1.1.1 Introduction – Why should I use
broadcast?
Broadcast is your ultimate tool when you
want to reach out to your community in an instant. If you have your community’s
contact information including email addresses and mobile phones, broadcast lets
you email and/or SMS them. This is very convenient and effective when you have
to pass down notices or make urgent announcements. Broadcast maintains certain
contact groups for you, but you also have the option to create additional
subgroups.
1.1.2 How to send out a broadcast
message?
1. Click the broadcast button in
the top menu bar. The broadcast screen will open.
2. The leftmost panel shows the
contacts’ groups in your building. These groups are linked to
apartments/residents database and any change in their information is also
reflected in broadcast groups.
3. Select a group to view its
members and corresponding apartment numbers in the next panel.
4. You can select all members in a
group or just a few by ticking their respective checkboxes.
5. After selecting the
recipient(s), select the type of broadcast (SMS or Email) using the drop down
list in the right most panel.

message body. You can also add attachments by clicking the pin icon on the
right. Press Send to finish.

SMS available in the green box on the top right side. If you have lesser SMS
than you want to send, you might need to purchase more SMS. See How to purchase SMS for broadcast for details.

1.1.4 How does SMS billing work?
MYBOS allows messages up to 765 characters.
Messages up to 160 characters are charged as 1 SMS. Messages between 161 and
765 characters are charged at 153 characters per SMS. This is due to some extra
bytes required for encoding concatenated messages. The following table
summarizes the number of SMS charged against character lengths:
Number of characters SMS charged
1-160 1
161-306 2
307-459 3
460-612 4
613-765 5
Because SMS may be charged in addition to
your standard subscription fees, it is recommended to be careful with the
length of your messages.
